Larry & Sheri Mar 28 – Apr 5 2013 – St Barts Bucket & BVI

“Hi Roger

Wow. Another great Palapa trip. Thanks for setting up the trip to St Barts to watch the Barts Bucket and then getting us to BVI so I could show Sheri where I first chartered many years ago.

I was a bit bummed we did not get better weather for the second day of the race but you did a great job getting and keeping us in position at the start.  It was amazing watching the Maltese Falcon and the other mega mega yachts sail right by us.  In spite of the weather, I got some great pics.

The ribs and dollar beers on the beach in St Martin where amazing as well, where does St Martine get all the pigs!?

Sheri really enjoyed the BVI’s and North Sound. Thanks so much for packing in everything in such a short time and thank Aimee for all the great food, it seemed she was always down in the galley wiping up something!

Relaxing the last 2 days at Leverick was a great call and Sheri really enjoyed the land trip to the baths and the lobster sandwiches!

Cheers L”

Jost & Elise Oct 2012 BVI Day Charter

“Hi Roger & Aimee,

Just wanted to tell you we had an amazing day with you both on Palapa.  We did so much it was hard to believe it was only a day!  The quesadilla lunch Aimee did was delicious with the fresh guacamole and salsa.

Roger did an amazing job anchoring us right off the beach, we really enjoyed the pics you sent of us. Rogers Margaritas on the beach lived up too their reputation.

We thought the day was done with the paddle boarding but both had a blast doing the SUP behind the dingy.  Aimee thanks so much for showing us this trick!

We both had an amazing time and cant wait to spend more time on Palapa on our next trip to the BVI .

Best,
Jost & Elise”

Larry & Sheri May 24 – 30, 2012 Culebra & St Thomas

“Hi Roger,

Thanks again for an amazing trip; I never realized how beautiful the Spanish Virgins where.

We really enjoyed the beach bocci championship on Culabrita, not to mention the SUP surfing behind the dingy; very fun!

Aimee’s food was delicious; I am going to have to go back on my diet to make up for the food and all the cocktails you kept pouring us!!

Thanks so much for agreeing to take us over to the USVI so I could take Sheri out in Charlotte Armalie. I did not realize it was only 10 miles away until we where anchored off Cubralitra; Brought back memories of my last trip to BVI.

We are both exhausted from the trip!!  Sheri and I had the best time. We will be back next season to sail with you in BVI’s.

Cheers L”

Dave and Val May 16 – 19, 2012 Culebra – Vieques Trip, Spanish Virgin Islands

“Hi Roger and Aimee,

Thanks again for having us. You orchestrated a full and interesting trip for us, with lots of sailing and new anchorages for each event of the day.  Much appreciated!

And, thanks to Aimee for the superb food service!  It reminded me of the trip on Le Ponant in the Seychelles except there was no Chef’s hat on.

The trip flight home from Culebra was uneventful.  All planes roughly on time, and arrived here at HMBay at 9pm.  Thanks for a fun trip.  Good to see you and to meet Aimee and to see that you guys are having fun together.  Looks like a great match! and to see your vessel too.  Amazing considering  all the miles you’ve put it through!

If you’re in the area, you’re welcome to come stay with us.  We have a spare guest room.

Fair Winds,
Dave”

Nate & Naomi April 7 to 14, 2012 USVI / BVI

We can’t say enough glowing things about Captain Roger and First Mate Aimee.  But our actions speak louder than words- we enjoy chartering with them so much we keep coming back.  We’ve had the good fortune to be their guests numerous times:  gunk holing in the Sea of Cortez, cruising down the coast of Australia, island-hopping through the Greek Isles, and most recently, an extended tour of British and US Virgin Islands.

The boat is modern and well maintained, and accommodations are always clean, bright, spacious and comfortable.  Both the Nespresso machine and the beer cooler are always well-stocked.  The aft BBQ is always a special treat, especially when it’s got a fresh-caugh Mahi on it.  More than once, we’ve ended up having dance parties on the foredeck.

The boat sails well and is very safe and stable– we even brought our one year old toddler on one trip.  Most days are spent doing easy 10-20 mile day hops, but we’ve also had several overnighters in full comfort.  Captain Roger is impressive at his ability to either completely run the boat by himself, or give guests as much time at the helm as they want.

We recommend them without hesitation and look forward to our next adventure.

George & Laurele Jan 20 – 28, 2012 St Martin to BVI

Dear Roger & Aimee,

It was the trip of a lifetime!  Starting with the champagne arrival, it was a 5 star cruise all the way.

Roger, we loved being whisked away, every day, to a surprise location.  The ribs on the beach in St. Martin, watching people bing blown away by jets at the Airport Bar in Phillipsburg, exploring the caves at The Baths on Virgin Gorda, eating conch at the Bitter End, the painkiller drinks at Saba Rock and conch blowing contest at Leverick Bay, to name just a few.   You always amazed us.  You knew the best places.  We had never sailed before.  You were very patient and taught us so much about the area and safety aboard the boat.   And your stories about sailing around the world kept us enthralled and asking for more.

Aimee, you are the best hostess and an amazing chef.  Your gourmet breakfasts were to die for.  We looked forward to getting up out our comfortable beds in anticipation.  And Roger, your bacon-wrapped prawns, and bbq lobster, made our mouths water. You also anticipated our every need and we felt pampered.

Your boat was immaculately clean.  Loved having our own bathroom.  Loved hanging out on your hammock with the breeze and the sound of the water lapping on the boat, gazing at the stars.  Loved paddle boarding to a secluded beach.  Loved being dropped off on a party island. Loved snorkeling in the most beautiful warm water in the world.  Loved the pictures you sent us.  Loved everything.

Thank you for sharing your paradise with us.  You were both so much fun, we hope to go sailing with you again.

Katie & Lyall Dec 18 – 23 Dec 2012 St. Lucia

Our charter experience aboard La Palapa was a dream! Our leisurely cruise route took us along the coast of Saint Lucia from Rodney Bay down through Marigot to Hummingbird Bay in Souffries, where the Pitons provide a stunning backdrop for a sunset cocktails.

We had great weather and fair winds and were able to sail the whole time and take in the beautiful coastline without the hum of an engine.

This was a special trip for Lyall and I, who had recently met and fell in love ‘at first sight’. We truly felt like we were already on our honeymoon in that the boat  and crew catered to our lovestruck hearts.

Aimee and Roger, who similarly fell in love in Las Palmas, knew exactly what we needed… the perfect balance of time alone exploring the anchorages and time aboard relaxing in the company of friends.  The food aboard was prepared daily by chef Aimee and the fresh and healthy cuisine was a perfect match for the warm tropical climate and served to recharge us after snorkeling in the sea. It was so nice to wake up and head up to the cockpit for our morning spread.  I left with some great recipes and also some new cocktail concoctions as well.  Roger always made sure we had a perfectly mixed drink in our hands at sunset, and kept our glasses filled with his delicious drinks.  We both felt ‘at home’ while aboard, and really enjoyed their company during the trip. Throughout the charter, Aimee, an excellent photographer, snapped photos of us and she provided us with the images before our departure.  They left us with not only amazing images to remember our trip, but lasting memories as well.

Our time aboard La Palapa was truly magical and we would highly recommend them to  anyone looking for a laid back, stress free charter experience.  They will cater the itinerary to best suit your desires and make sure you have everything you need aboard their beautiful boat. We will surely be cruising with them again in the near future! Thank you both again for such an amazing trip!  A hui ho, until we meet again,

Katie and Lyall, Hawaii

Scott and Micha May 4 – 11, 2012 Culebra and Puerto Rico

“Roger & Aimee

We had wanted to visit the Spanish Virgin islands since we started chartering in the BVI and this trip exceeded our expectations and then some.  Thanks so much for making this happen for us.

Culebra and Culabrita where amazing with sands and water on par if not better than the BVI.  Aimee’s cooking especially her breakfasts and appetizers where awesome.  Roger was great on the grill we will have to try to replicate the bacon wrapped shrimp.  We also really enjoyed meeting Zaco at Zaco’s tacos in Culebra, it seemed you knew everyone on the island!

We really appreciated you joining us for our tour of the rain forest at the end of our trip.  it was an amazing experience to go from perfect beaches to the dramatic rain forest and evening in Old San Juan.

Enjoy your chartering next year. You will be great!

Scott”
